Welcome to August: New Beginnings

Welcome to the month of August. This month, our devotional focus is New Beginnings. A new beginning does not always mean everything around you changes immediately. Sometimes a new beginning starts quietly. It starts with a new decision, a new mindset, a new surrender, a new level of obedience, and a renewed yes to God. All through Scripture, we see people who experienced new beginnings. Noah stepped out of the ark into a new world after the flood. What had been washed away was gone, and God gave him a fresh place to begin again. Abraham received a new beginning when God called him out from what was familiar and sent him toward a promise he had not yet seen. Moses had a new beginning after years on the backside of the desert. What looked like a hidden season became preparation for his assignment. Ruth had a new beginning after loss. She chose faithfulness, followed Naomi, and stepped into a future that connected her to the lineage of Jesus. Peter had a new beginning after denying Jesus. His failure was not the end of his story. Jesus restored him and still used him to strengthen others. Paul had a new beginning on the road to Damascus. His life changed when he encountered Jesus, and the very thing he once fought against became the message he carried. So as we enter August, be encouraged. God is not finished with you. Your past season does not have the final word. Your delay does not have the final word. Your disappointment does not have the final word. Your mistake does not have the final word. God is able to bring fresh oil, fresh direction, fresh strength, fresh clarity, and fresh obedience into your life. This month, do not be afraid of the new. Do not resist what God is trying to birth in you. Do not keep reaching back for what God is calling you to release. Isaiah 43:19 says, “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?” This is a month to open your eyes, open your heart, and open your spirit to what God is doing. A new beginning is not just about starting over. It is about starting again with God. Welcome to August. Welcome to New Beginnings. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
